Translational Health

The Translational Health—Applied Health degree is a new program that started in the fall of 2015. It offers students the opportunity to study health and wellness in one-on-one interactions with Exercise Physiology and Nutrition faculty members.

Program Overview

Students in the Translation Health program will be able to choose either an Applied Nutrition track or an Exercise Physiology track. The overall goal of the program is to prepare students for graduate or professional study. Students are required to take eight tutorials (two of which are devoted to a thesis). These tutorials include experience with basic and applied research, clinical experience, and general health and wellness with the assistance of faculty. Students will also complete the Diabetes Certificate through Ohio University.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

Successful graduates of the program are highly competitive applicants for graduate school or professional school (physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology and metabolism, nutrition and dietetics, kinesiology, community and applied health, physician's assistant, etc.)

Eligibility

Students are selected by the College and the Director of Studies for the Translational Health program. Applicants are selected on the basis of superior academic ability and the potential for self-motivated undergraduate study and research.
