The RHE Supplemental Support Fund (RHESSF)is designed to support faculty and staff professional development activities.
Applications may be submitted by faculty (tenure track, instructional, clinical and visiting faculty) and staff (administrative or bargaining unit) for professional development, travel and/or supplies. Funds remaining after the project is completed will be returned.
Proposals may be submitted to support professional development that exceed annual allocation for faculty and staff.
Application Process
Submit the following to respective campus dean via email:
- Provide specific details in the description of your proposed projectto indicate the impact of the project to the applicant’s growth and professional status (e.g., progress toward tenure and promotion, to obtain feedback on research to enhance publication, skills developed as a result of the professional development, etc.);
- Provide documentation with your proposal(e.g., presentation proposal submitted, presentation proposal accepted, description of the professional development opportunity and dates)
- Itemized Project Budget
- Costs associated with professional development (e.g., registration, travel, supplies/equipment, etc.)
- Include detailed list of all professional development funds that are supporting this request
General Guidelines
- No more than one proposal may be funded per faculty/staff member per year with a maximum of $1,000 award per proposal
- Additional proposals and/or total amounts may be funded at the discretion of the Vice Provost.
- Faculty and staff receiving supplemental support funds are to provide a report to campus dean (two pages max) stating how the money was used and how it impacted his or her professional development by 4 weeks following the event or activity.
- All supplemental support funds must be spent by June 30 of the fiscal year in which the funds were awarded.
- No funds will be awarded to faculty/staff who have not completed and submitted the report regarding the use of previously awarded funds.
- Faculty and staff can receive funding each year for up to three consecutive years.
Note: All non-consumable supplies, materials, and equipment purchased with supplemental support funds remain the property of the RHE and University and an inventory of supplies, materials, equipment must be maintained.
Timeline
- Fall proposalsubmission due to campus dean by September 8 and to RHE by September 15
- Spring proposalsubmission due to campus dean by February 8, and to RHE by February 15
- Summer proposalsubmission due to campus dean by June 8, and to RHE by June 15
