Dious Joseph (M.A.)is a Roman Catholic priest from India working in the Bridgeport diocese. Throughout his time in the Fairfield University graduate program, Dious worked to use Communication research and theory to understand Communication in the Roman Catholic Church. Despite the Catholic Church being the oldest and biggest organization globally, Communication is understudied across disciplines. Dious spent 2021-2022 completing his thesis about the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. His study is the first empirically-based research on the sacrament in the Communication discipline. In this way, he hoped to better understand Priests’ experiences with this process, which often occurs at the end of life. In addition, through his research, he hopes to inform the training of future priests. At OHIO, Dious plans to continue researching Catholic Interpersonal/Organizational Communication.
