Kaitlyn Searls (MS in Integrated Marketing Communication) completed her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Virginia University. She is currently employed with West Virginia University Medicine and works in Human Resources. Her work has led her to engage in discussions and research that critically analyze medical systems, policies, practices, and communication surrounding diagnostic interactions between female patients and providers. Her experiences have guided her research interests toward examining how sex informs diagnosis. Kaitlyn’s current and future career goals are industry-oriented as she hopes to work with teaching hospitals to improve educational communication programming and operational communication practices to contribute to positive health outcomes by reducing delayed and misdiagnosis rates.
