Annual parking permits are available to full-time and part-time benefits eligible employees via a pre-tax payroll deduction. Permits are issued per fiscal year and fees are divided into monthly payments based on the employees payroll cycle. Under this option eligible faculty and staff may purchase parking permits with pre-tax dollars. Please see below for details on the terms and conditions of a pre-tax payroll deduction parking permit.
Terms and Conditions
Eligibility:You are eligible to participate in the pre-tax parking program if you are a full-time or part-time benefits eligible Ohio University faculty or staff.
Pre-Tax Payroll Deductions:After making an election to participate in the program, your compensation will be reduced each pay through pre-tax payroll deductions through the end of the permit year. Pre-tax payroll deductions will be taken from each pay.
- Faculty/staff parking is permitted in regular non-metered, non-restricted spaces within dark green and purple parking lots throughout campus. Permits are $150 per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
- Priority lot parking is permitted in regular non-metered, non-restricted spaces within designated priority and dark green and purple parking lots throughout campus. Permits are $300 per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
- Reserved parking is permitted in designated reserved parking facilities throughout campus. Permits are $800 per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
If for any reason the amount cannot be deducted from the customer's paycheck (i.e. the customer did not receive a paycheck for the month) and the permit has not been returned to TPS, the customer is responsible for that amount (and subsequent missed deductions) and will be contacted by the University. TPS encourages customers who no longer need their parking permit to return the permit to the TPS Customer Care Center to stop the payroll deductions for the following month.
No Refunds:Tax laws do not permit any refund of the pre-tax parking deduction once deducted.
Cancellation of Pre-Tax Parking Deductions:Payroll deductions can only be cancelled or changed outside of the annual opt-in/out period by a qualifying change of employment.
If your employment with the University is terminated, you must return your permit to Transportation & Parking Services (TPS). Permits can be returned in person to the Customer Care Center Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:30PM or via mail to 100 Factory Street, Athens OH 45701. Payroll deductions will end at the time of termination.
Removal from the program: Any violation of these Terms and Conditions constitutes cause for removal from the program. Individuals who are removed from the program are not eligible for re-enrollment without payment in full of any overdue and outstanding parking permit fees.
Miscellaneous:These terms and conditions are subject to change in order to comply with applicable laws and University policies and procedures.
