Christina S. Beck(Ph.D., University of Oklahoma) is a Professor in the School of Communication Studies at Ohio University (USA) and Past-President of the National Communication Association and Central States Communication Association. Beck has produced 14 books and numerous book chapters, journal articles, and conference presentations. For the past two decades, Beck’s work has bridged her interests in health communication, popular culture, fandom, and media audiences, including her co-authored book, Celebrity Health Narratives and the Public Health (2015) and her single-authored book, Celebrity in the Time of Covid: Fandom and the Influence of Pandemic Messaging (2022). Most recently, she edited (and contributed to) The Routledge Handbook of Health Communication and Popular Culture (2025). In addition to this scholarly work, she founded the Ohio University chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (the National Communication Honor Society) in 2003, and she’s honored to continue to serve as chapter advisor.
