This position represents a new faculty line and is indicative of the level of support the school counseling program enjoys at UNF. The position is a tenure-track, full-time faculty appointment. Summer contracts are separate and offered when available. The SOAR School Counseling Program in the UNF College of Education and Human Services is a CACREP-accredited, stand-alone, school counseling program. SOAR School Counseling is an innovative program that prepares school counseling students to be educational leaders, student advocates, and change agents in many school settings, but with a particular emphasis on urban schools. The courses in our program are specially designed for school counselor preparation and this preparation has at its foundation commitments to pedagogical innovation, community-based instruction and collaboration, social justice, and educational equity. Required qualifications for the position include: * Doctorate conferred by August 1, 2011, in counselor education or closely related field * Experience as a school counselor, supervisor of guidance, and/or state department guidance director * The demonstration of a clear vision for scholarship * An understanding of and commitment to the principles of social justice and educational equity. Preferred qualifications for the position include: * Doctorate degree from a CACREP accredited institution in counselor education * Strong teaching and research skills * Successful prior experience as a school counselor, supervisor of guidance, and/or state department guidance director * An active research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity and publications. Responsibilities include teaching, research, advising, curriculum development, and professional service. The salary range is negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience.
