Assistant/Associate Professor-Counseling, Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services

Tenure-track position available August 17, 2012.  Primary responsibilities: instruct and supervise in the CACREP accredited school counseling program as well as related master's and doctoral programs; contribute to the department's scientist-professional training model; be a productive scholar and effective teacher; and be dedicated to professional/public service.

Minimum qualifications: doctorate in counselor education (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) from a CACREP accredited program, and obtain certification as a school counselor by December 1, 2012.  ABD candidates will be considered only if all degree requirements will be completed by August 17, 2012.  Demonstrate professional competence in school counseling.  Preferred qualifications: ability to contribute to other graduate programs within the department; ability to mentor students on diversity issues and facilitate immersive learning experiences.

The department offers training leading to an undergraduate minor in Interpersonal Relations and the following degrees: M.A. in Counseling (CORE-accredited Rehabilitation Counseling, CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling), M.A. in Social Psychology (General or Applied), and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (APA accredited). The American Psychological Association of Graduate Students recognized the department as the 2005 outstanding graduate psychology program. The school counseling program is recognized by the Education Trust as a Transforming School Counseling Program.  The university offers excellent benefits.
