The program educates and trains professionals as Professional Mental Health Counselors with specializations in Marital, Couple and Family Counseling; Addiction and Recovery Counseling; and Cross-Cultural Crisis and Trauma Counseling. PAU's Masters in Counseling Department is exemplified by a positive, supporting, high energy, creative and synergistic culture that seeks to challenge and support students, faculty and staff as they strive for excellence in their work and career. The Counseling program is orientated towards supporting the working professional and there is a strong commitment to access and flexible formatting. Faculty and staff thus are required to work flexible hours to accommodate students to include evening, weekend and online courses. The department is strategically moving towards a stronger affiliation with the American Counseling Associations and is positioning itself for CACREP accreditation as it seeks to strengthen both its California residential programs and its Global Online presence in the other states, territories and selected international locations. Full time Counselor Educator faculty member will teach 10 quarter units per quarter or its equivalent (normally 2 or 3 classes). Courses will include face-to-face residential format and the Global Online program. Additional duties include student advising, facilitating student success, participating in shared governance and assisting in CACREP accreditation activities. Faculty Minimum Qualifications * Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or were employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before 1 July 2013. * Professional identity as a Counselor to include with affiliation with relevant professional counseling associations to include the American Counseling Association. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both face-to-face, and connecting online through email, video conferencing, and chat. * Strong teaching abilities in both online and residential formats. * Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills. * Demonstrated responsiveness to student issues and concerns. * License or license eligibility as an LPCC and/or LMFT in California. * Ability to interact with diverse populations and organizations in a spirit of cooperation.
