Dear OCEES students - This semester, Willem, Viorel, and I are organizing a 1 credit hour seminar course (BIOS 6820, section 103) we'd like to open up to any graduate student with an interest in ecology and conservation. The format of the class is simple: each week, a student or faculty will either select a paper for the group to read and discuss or can present part of their research. The goal is to have an opportunity to get more exposure to literature you might not otherwise read, gain new perspective on topics/techniques in ecology and conservation, and to have a space get feedback on research ideas or presentations you are working on for conferences, etc. Any graduate student is welcome to enroll/sit-in. Our intent is to have a well-organized and thoughtful conversation in a friendly environment. To that end, we're hoping to meet in the late afternoon on 1 day of the week. Before we set the date and time in stone, we wanted to see if any other OCEES students would be interested in joining us. If you're interested, please send me a short email and tell me what days and times would work for you. We'll do our best to accommodate as many as we can.
