Jessica, Dustin, Ashton, and Amanda - Transactional Leadership - creates and organizes tasks for subordinates, and subordinates are motivated by rewards and punishments (related to managerial leadership) - Contingent Rewards - subordinates are given rewards when they have completed their identified goals. Leaders assess performance periodically and provide appropriate rewards. To be effective, rewards must be specific to each individual subordinate. - Active Management - the leader takes a hands-on approach. The leader will actively monitor subordinates and take action when they see something is about to go wrong. This leadership style represents a more proactive approach. - Passive Management - the leader is more hands-off. They will wait to intervene until performance is unacceptable. This approach is more reactive. - Laissez-Faire - The leader takes a hands-off approach, avoids making decisions, and allows the subordinates freedom to act and make decisions. As such, at times, the organization may lack direction. Similarly, because a laissez-faire leader of often inactive, s/he does not largely impact the climate of the organization. - Transformational Leadership - a transformational leader has a vision and seeks to change both the organization and the people within it. - Idealized Influence - the leader will serve as a role model who displays high ethical behavior, while attaining the trust and respect of subordinates - Inspirational Motivation - this leader will communicate clearly the vision for the organization, motivate subordinates to buy in and be confident in reaching the goal. - Intellectual Stimulation - this type of leader will foster creativity within followers through encouraging them to think deeply and independently.
