The Institute to ADVANCE Health Equity (ADVANCE) promotes research that contributes to the developing science of health equity and population health improvement through the study of health outcomes and services, as well as social factors that impact health. The Institute is dedicated to supporting, nurturing and strengthening members' skills. By providing access to shared resources and data, opportunities to participate in research related to health equity, mentorship, learning and collaborative opportunities, and support for faculty research, development and training, the Institute helps members thrive as they continue to engage in research and elevate OHIO's mission.
Ohio University joined the highest level of research institutions (opens in a new window) in the country by earning the R1 Classification (very high research activity) in the latest Carnegie Classification of Institutions in Higher Education. Institutions holding the Carnegie R1 designation constitute the top tier of research universities as measured by expenditures supporting research and development, conferral of research doctoral degrees and employment of Ph.D.-level personnel engaged in research.
