Equity and Civil Rights Compliance

The Office of Equity and Civil Rights Compliance (ECRC)  ensures that the University maintains an employment and educational environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. ECRC monitors the educational environment and workplace to stop, remediate, and prevent discrimination on the basis of protected status. ECRC makes policy recommendations, offers training, and provides avenues for the resolution of grievances which are based on protected status.

Pride Center

The  Pride Center  advances the diversity mission of Ohio University by creating a university environment and community inclusive and supportive of sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and queerness. We focus on the unique academic, cultural, and social needs of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the wider community. As an academic support unit, we strive to enhance students' learning and engagement as well as increase the retention of these students. Our broader influence emerges from providing resources, educational opportunities, social gatherings, and LGBTQ+ justice initiatives to ALL students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members at Ohio University and beyond.

Multicultural Center

The  Multicultural Center  serves as a place where cultural teaching and learning are the focus of all programs and activities. Its focus is intercultural, and provides a place where members of the university community, representing a variety of backgrounds, participate in programs and activities. All programming for the Center is designed to increase human understanding through the study and expression of culture.

Office for University Accessibility

The Office for University Accessibility manages compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and handles all requests for reasonable accommodations by faculty, staff, students, and public visitors to any OHIO campuses or locations.

Ombudsperson Office

The  Organizational Ombudsperson  serves in a unique role within the University, by assisting members of the University community with issues internal to Ohio University and in providing a proactive voice regarding issues that are arising throughout its various campuses.

The Office of the Ombudsperson is a confidential service open to all students, employees, alumni, parents and community members at Ohio University. The overarching mission of the Office of the Ombudsperson is twofold: to ensure that every member of the university community receives equitable and fair treatment and due process, and to support and facilitate a positive working and learning environment.

Women’s Center

The mission of the  Ohio University Women's Center  is to act as a catalyst to promote awareness, education, and advocacy about women, gender, and diversity, among faculty, staff, and students at Ohio University and its surrounding communities.

In fulfilling its mission, the Center provides students, faculty, and staff with information, services, and programs that address matters of particular concern to women - while exploring the connections among gender, race, economic status, sexual orientation, culture, religion, political views, and other significant elements in relation to women's individuality and collective identity.

Lactation Rooms

Ohio University is continuing to develop strategies to be supportive of parents on campus, including faculty, staff, and students, as well as visitors. OHIO has designated more than a dozen spaces across the University, most of which are equipped with hospital-grade pumps, for use by those who are breastfeeding, pumping, or chestfeeding. Meditation Rooms

On the Athens campus, a dedicated meditation room is available at  Alden Library (5th floor) and a dual purpose meditation and lactation room is available at Patton Hall (room 241). These spaces are available on a first-come basis and may be used for mediation or prayer.

Single-Use Bathrooms

At OHIO, we want all individuals to feel recognized, represented, and safe. The Division of Diversity and Inclusion, in coordination with Space Planning  has published an online listing including all known single-use bathrooms at the Ohio University Athens campus. 

Family-Friendly Resources

In support of all OHIO faculty, staff, and their families, University Human Resources, in coordination with the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, has published an online listing of family-friendly resources at OHIO and in the surrounding communities.
