Commercial Photography Minor

Commercial Photography Minor

The Commercial Photography minor provides students — particularly those in communication, media, and design-related fields — with foundational skills in creating compelling images for commercial use. Through hands-on coursework in fashion, portrait, still life, and architectural photography, students learn how to apply visual storytelling techniques in alignment with professional communication goals.

Admissions Requirements

This is a selective minor. Students must have:

  • A minimum GPA of 2.75
  • A successful portfolio review

Curriculum

The Commercial Photography minor requires a minimum of 15 credit hours, including courses in introductory photography, fashion and portrait photography, still life and architectural photography, and an elective in a specialized area such as video capture, studio management, or business practices.

Students who complete the Commercial Photography minor are prepared to apply commercial photography skills to careers in marketing, advertising, social media content creation, corporate communication, and working at the intersection of creativity and communication strategy.
