- Daniel K.C. Shao Study Abroad Scholarship:Provides up to $2,500 support to any undergraduate or graduate Ohio University student to study abroad as part of their program of study, with a preference for Hong Kong, China, or other Asian countries. This scholarship was mde possible by Dr. Shao You-Bao, a visionary leader in banking, international trade, public service, and philanthropy. Dr. Shao You-Bao passed away in March 2006, at the age of eighty-five.
- Center for International Studies Global Learning Fund: Provides up to $1,500 support for any undergraduate or graduate CIS student (majors, minors, certificates) pursuing experiential learning activities such as study abroad, internships, and conferences.
- Boundless Scholarship: Provides up to $1,500 support for any undergraduate or graduate CIS student (majors, minors, certificates) pursuing study away experiences, including domestic and international study away programs, student exchanges, internships, volunteer opportunities and research. Study away experiences must be at least two weeks in duration.
- Center for International Studies Fund for Student Travel, Research, and Internships: Provides up to $1,500 support to any undergraduate or graduate CIS student for travel support for thesis or project research, conferences, and/or internships. This scholarship was made possible by a generous gift from Dr. David Mould, former Director of the Communications and Development Studies Program at Ohio University.
- David M. Crane Graduate Fellowship for International Affairs:Provides $9,500 support for one year to an applicant in any CIS MA graduate program, with a preference for OHIO undergraduate alumni. This scholarship is made possible by a generous gift by David M. Crane, Esq. (MA, African Studies, 1972).
Our common application allows students to be considered for all available scholarships. As part of the application submission process, you will be required to upload a personal statement, transcript/DARS report, and academic resume/CV. Please have those materials ready before you begin the application.
Thomas and Anne Walker Award for Latin American Studies
The 2025-2026 deadline will be in October 2025.
The Center for International Studies is thrilled to call for applications for undergraduate or graduate funding from the Thomas and Anne Walker Latin American Studies Endowment.
Founded in honor of Dr. Thomas Walker, professor emeritus of Political Science and longtime director of the Latin American Studies program at Ohio University, and his wife Anne Walker, the Walker Fund provides financial support for students whose research and academic pursuits advance the study of Latin America and awareness of the region and its global relevance.
Latin American Studies graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be enrolled OHIO students or have been accepted for admission to the university and must demonstrate academic merit. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and graduate applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
Applications must include a 500-word word narrative that explains how the funds will be used to support research or academic work in the field of Latin American Studies. Additionally, the application should include a CV, a transcript or DARS, and contact information for two (2) references familiar with the applicant’s academic performance and/or research. Patricia A. Weitsman Memorial Scholarship
The Patricia A. Weitsman Memorial Scholarship provides an award to students who are enrolled in or accepted for admission to Ohio University, meet all university requirements to be a student in good standing, and are majoring in War and Peace Studies.
The award is given each spring semester to the War and Peace Studies undergraduate student who holds the highest GPA in the class and will be going into their senior year in the fall.
Center for International Studies General Scholarship Endowment
The CIS General Scholarship Endowment provides up to $1,500 support for any undergraduate CIS student (majors, minors, certificates).
Center for International Studies Scholarship Support Fund
The CIS Scholarhsip Support Fund provides up to $1,500 support for any undergraduate or graduate CIS student (majors, minors, certificates).
