We've collected local support for students on the regional campuses who are experiencing emergencies that may impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college.

Chillicothe

Dental

Dental screenings are held at Hope Clinic on Mondays. New patients need to arrive by 5:30 p.m. Patients are taken in order and only 6-8 are seen per week. You will have to fill out paperwork, and once it is completed and reviewed you will have a dental screening. They will perform an exam and take x-rays of their main dental problem. An appointment will be scheduled for another day. The dental clinic is located at 622 Central Center. 740.772.6676

Health Care

Hope Clinic takes people of all ages who do not have medical or dental insurance and fall below the federal poverty guidelines. The clinic is open on Monday nights from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at 610 Central Center, Chillicothe. 740.774.4606

Vision

Hope Clinic offers eyecare vouchers. It is located at 475 Western Ave., Suite A, Chillicothe. The clinic operates on income-based need. Check your eligibility according to Prevent Blindness Ohio  or call  740.7744606

Food

Pike County Outreach Council is located at 107 W 2 nd St. Waverly, OH. The food pantry is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.  740.947.7151

Homelessness and Housing

Homeless Crisis Response Program. This program helps families and individuals break free from homelessness by rapidly removing people from shelters and into permanent housing. Located at 120 North Third Street, Ironton, OH. 740.532.3140

Eastern

Dental

Ohio Hill Health Services is located at: 101 E Main St. Barnesville, OH. They offer general dentistry services.  The clinic is based on income so please call beforehand.  740.239.6447

Health Care

Wheeling Health Right free clinic is located at: 61 29th St, Wheeling, WV. They take people of all ages. The clinic is free and asks for donations. The clinic is open 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. 7 days per week.  304.233.9323

Vision

The Martins Ferry Lions Club provides a free eye exam and a pair of glasses. Located in Martins Ferry, OH. Contact them at mflioms2013@gmail.com .

Food

House of Carpenter is located at 200 S Front St, Wheeling, WV. The pantry is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. 304.233.4640

Centre Fellowship Wheeling is located at 41 22 nd St, Wheeling, WV. They offer a free meal every Saturday from 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. 304.232.201

Homelessness and Housing

The Salvation Army is located at 315 37 th St. Bellaire, OH. They provide emergency shelter and transitional housing. They are open Mon-Fri from 8:00 a.m–4:30 p.m. 740.676.6225

Lancaster

Dental

East Central Health Center Dental Clinic located at 1180 East Main St, Columbus, OH. The clinic provides the following dental services: Preventative exams, routine checkups, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, tooth extractions, and root canals (only done on front teeth). The clinic operates on a sliding fee scale, meaning it is based on financial need. 614.645.5535

Health Care

Fairfield County Community Health Center located at 1155 E. Main St, Lancaster, OH. They offer checkups, treatment, pregnancy care, immunizations, and childcare. This clinic is income based so you will need to prove financial need. Open Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. 740.277.6043

Vision

The Lions Club of Lancaster offers vision screenings and glasses. You can apply to get glasses through the Fairfield County 211. To qualify you need to be a resident of Fairfield County for at least 6 months, have proof of income, social security cards, and proof of address. The process takes 4-6 weeks. Food

Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Food Pantry is located at 1743 East Main Street. Open Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Food is available once per month. Produce is available daily. 740.653.4146

Salvation Army is located at 228 West Hubert Avenue, Lancaster, Ohio. The food pantry is open Monday–Friday 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. Food is available every 30 days. 740.687.1921

Foundation Dinners is located at 1000 W. 5th Avenue, Lancaster. They serve free lunch every day at 11:30 a.m. and dinner at 4:00 p.m. Carry-out meals are being given to people with housing. 740.653.3233

Southern

Dental / Health Care

Family Medical Centers give medical and dental care to underinsured people and people without insurance. The clinic is located at 223 Carlton Davidson Ln, Coal Grove, Ohio. 740.532.3140

Health Care

Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action is located at 305 N. 5 th St. Ironton, OH. They offer the following services: Checkups, treatment, pregnancy care, immunizations, and childcare. The services are income-based based and you will need to provide financial documents. 740.532.3534

Vision

Both the Barboursville, WV and the Flatwoods, KY Lions clubs provide vision screenings and glasses to people in need.

Food

Facing Hunger is located at 1327 7 th Ave, Huntington, WV. The food bank is open Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. 304.523.6029

Homelessness and Housing

Zanesville

Dental

Muskingum Valley Health Center, located at 716 Adair Ave, offers preventative and restorative dental care. This clinic operates based on financial need. The clinic is open Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. 740.891.9000

Health Care

Muskingum Valley Health Center is located at 716 Adair Ave. This clinic offers the following services: Adult Primary Care, Infant, Child and Adolescent Care, Women’s Health, Behavioral Health, Podiatry, and Patient Education. The clinic is open Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. It operates by financial need 740.891.9000

Vision

The Sight for Students and Mobile Eyes program provides eye exams and glasses to adults to meet the financial requirements. Contact the Muskingum County Health Department to apply. 740.454.9741

Food

Eastside Community Ministries is located at 221 Stillwell St, Zanesville. The food pantry is open Monday–Thursday from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. 740.452.7519

Homelessness and Housing

Salvation Army is located at 515 Putnam Ave.
Homeless Shelter is available 24/7. Clients may stay on a daily basis, up to 90 days. Walk-ins; Must have current picture ID; Social Security card or printout of Social Security number. 740.452.8350

Trulight Ministries located at 807 Putnam Ave. They serve a free hot meal every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. They also serve hot breakfast throughout the week. 740.704.853

Dublin

Dental

Wexner Medical Center Ohio State Outpatient Care East clinic provides dental care on a sliding scale based on income. Call to schedule an appointment. 614.688.6400

Ohio State College of Dentistry operates teaching clinics that provide a range of affordable dental services, including cleanings, fillings, root canals, and extractions. They are open to the public with reduced fees for low-income individuals. Clinic contact information can be found here.

Health Care

The Columbus Neighborhood Health Centers (CNHC) provides a full range of medical services including adult and pediatric care, OB/GYN services, immunizations, and behavioral health. A sliding fee scale is offered for low-income individuals and Medicaid and Medicare is accepted here. Walk-in and scheduled appointments are available. Proof of income may be required to reduce fees. Vision

The Vineyard Free Health Clinics provides free vision care services including eye exams and prescriptions for glasses. They partner with local optometrists to serve uninsured and low-income individuals. Open to individuals who are insured or underinsured. Call the clinic to schedule an appointment, as they offer specific vision care hours, though there is often a waiting list. 614-259-5428.

Food

The Dublin Food Pantry provides non-perishable and perishable food items, fresh produce, and household necessities to individuals and families in need. Proof of residency may be required. Visit the pantry during operating hours or call ahead to check availability. They typically require photo ID and proof of address. Learn more here. 614-889-6590

Homelessness and Housing

Community Shelter Board (CSB) provides a coordinated system of emergency shelters, homeless prevention programs, and rapid re-housing services across Franklin County, including Dublin. They work with partner agencies to help individuals and families avoid homelessness or find stable housing. These services are based on income and housing crisis situation. Call the Homeless Hotline at 614-274-7000 for immediate assistance or visit their website for information about shelters and re-housing programs,  https://www.csb.org .

YMCA of Central Ohio – Housing and Homeless Services offers emergency shelters, supportive housing programs, and transitional housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Open to individuals and families in need of emergency shelter or housing assistance. Programs may have income requirements or specific guidelines. Contact the YMCA for information on shelter availability and housing programs.   614-224-1133.

Franklin County Job and Family Services (JFS) – Emergency Assistance Program provides emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage, and utilities to prevent homelessness. The program focuses on helping low-income families stay in their homes during financial crises. Open to Franklin County residents who meet income requirements, aiming services at those at risk or eviction or foreclosure. Cleveland

Dental

The Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland (Cleveland Clinic Community Health Center) offers free or low-cost dental services to low-income and uninsured individuals, including cleanings, extractions, and basic dental care. Patients can schedule an appointment by contacting the clinic 216.721.4010

Health Care

MetroHealth System offers comprehensive healthcare services, including primary care, mental health, dental care, and specialized treatments. It operates on a sliding fee scale for low-income individuals and accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and offers financial assistance. Call 216.778.7800to schedule an appointment. Financial assistance applications can be submitted online or at the hospital during appointments 

Care Alliance Health Center offers low-cost or free primary care, dental care, behavioral health services, and HIV testing for homeless and low-income populations. They also have services focused specifically on women, children, and families. Call 216.535.9100to schedule an appointment or walk in at one of their clinics in Central Neighborhood, East Side, and West Side locations.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio provides affordable reproductive health services including birth control, cancer screenings, STD testing, and treatment on a sliding scale fee. Medicaid and other financial assistance are accepted here. Appointments can be schedule online,  https://www.plannedparenthood.org , or by calling their Cleveland center at 216.851.1880

Vision

Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons (NEOES) offers low-cost and comprehensive eye care, including routine eye exams, glasses prescriptions, and treatment for eye diseases. They work with various financial assistance programs for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Call 330.678.0201or visit their website to schedule an appointment.

Prevent Blindness Ohio offers free vision screening for children and adults and helps connect individuals with resources for affordable eye exams, eyeglasses, and treatments. They also advocate for eye health education. Call their Cleveland office at 800.301.2020. 

Food

Greater Cleveland Food Bank provides free groceries through its Mobile Pantries, Partner Agencies, and Food Distribution Events. They also offer assistance in enrolling in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Call the help center at 216.738.2067.

Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland operates multiple food pantries and hot meal programs across the Cleveland area. They also provide nutrition education programs to help individuals make healthier food choices. Use their Food Locator Tool on their website,  https://hungernetwork.org , or call 216-619.8155to find a pantry or hot meal site.

Contact Cleveland Student Affairs at 216.295.7525for the latest schedule for South Pointe Hospital’s Food pantry, which offers both fresh and shelf-stable food including proteins. Students can also FreshTrak.com to find local food resources in the community.
