Sustainable Living Floor
Prior to the 2020-21 academic year, a Sustainable Living Floor was located in the South Green residence halls (Luchs, Tanaka, Carr, Sowle). Approximately 50 students were chosen each year for this specialized living experience. The resident advisor for the floor and a student employee from the Office of Sustainability would jointly provide educational and experiential sustainability activities for floor residents. Goals for residents were:
- Learn more about sustainability
- Get involved in local sustainability efforts
- Learn to practice resiliency through gardening, cooking, materials repair and reuse, etc.
- Engage in sharing meals and discussions with a diverse group of people
- Be a part of an active community of learners with similar values
Popular activities in past years were Sustainable Gift Giving workshops, DIY Trashion Shows, and Making Tote Bags from T-Shirts.
Residence Life is currently accepting proposals for new specialized living experiences.
