  • Bennett Hall

    Bennett Hall

    Current Use

    Bennett Hall serves as the central location of all student activity. It houses Student Services , Accessibility Services , the Student Resource Center , and the Testing Center , as well as faculty and administrative offices, classrooms, and the OHIO Chillicothe Auditorium. Science and nursing labs are also located in Bennett Hall.

    History

    Named after Chillicothe's prominent Bennett family, Bennet Hall opened as the first building on the campus of Ohio University Chillicothe in September 1966. Classes were first offered in the Bennett Hall on September 19, 1966, 20 years and three days after OHIO Chillicothe's first night classes took place at Chillicothe High School.

  • Shoemaker Center

    Shoemaker Center

    Current Use

    Shoemaker Center features a full-length basketball court, free-standing baskets, bleacher seating to accommodate approximately 2,400 spectators, and a walking track utilized by both campus members and community residents. The facility hosts special events, including graduation ceremonies, fitness classes, and numerous community functions.

    History

    Shoemaker Center was dedicated in 1979 in honor of the late Myrl Shoemaker, who served in the Ohio House of Representatives for 24 years and was lieutenant governor from 1982 until his death in 1985 at age 72. Shoemaker insisted that the campus have a top-of-the-line facility and was extremely influential in the process of the building's construction.

  • Stevenson Center

    Stevenson Center

    Current Use

    Stevenson Center houses the Quinn Library, the Student Success Center where students can access free tutoring and academic assistance. epresents a convergence of information and technology in an inviting environment, conducive to learning. The area offers an open floor plan with abundant windows, comfortable seating and ample study areas for individual and group study. This is truly a student gathering area.

    History

    The Stevenson Center, named after long-time Chillicothe librarian Burton E. Stevenson, opened in 1974.

  • Technology and Business Development Center

    Technology Center

    Current Use

    OHIO Chillicothe's Technology and Business Development Center offers a variety of services, including workshops and seminars, along with university business, law enforcement technology, and science courses.

    By providing resources and support to students and area residents, the center helps make concepts and business ventures a reality while also supporting local economic development.

    History

    In 1998 a Technical Studies building, Ohio University Chillicothe's Technology and Business Development Center, which first became operational in January of 2012, is an expansion of the Technical Studies Building dedicated in 1988 and is the first LEED (Leadership in Environment and Energy Design) certified building on any of OHIO's regional campuses.

    The center is the result of an 8,200-square-foot addition to the Technical Studies Building that increased the building's total size to approximately 13,900 square feet.

  • Child Development and Family Service Center

    Child Development Center

    Current Use

    The center provides a high-quality educational experience for area children while serving as valuable practical experience for Chillicothe campus students majoring in early childhood education or nursing. On a weekly basis, the Center serves over 300 pre-school children and over 200 Ohio University Chillicothe students. The Center currently houses Ross County Community Action Head Start.

    History

    The Child Development and Family Service Center at OHIO Chillicothe was completed in 2006 and opened its doors in September 2007.
