It’s easy to schedule an appointment with your advisor. In fact, you are encouraged to meet with your advisor often since they are the most reliable resource of information, planning, and support for you. Use the link below to schedule an appointment. First, select your meeting type, and then select your advisor from the drop-down menu to see their availability. 

Which advisor should I meet with?

Please schedule your meeting with your assigned advisor.  If you don’t know who that is, it can be found in the column on the right in you MyOhio Student Center, or at the top of your DARS. If you do not have an assigned advisor yet, you can meet with any available advisor.

Responsibilities

Student

  • Keep the advising appointmentsyou have scheduled, or cancel if you cannot attend.
  • Be honest and open.If you are experiencing a personal or academic difficulty that is interfering with your studies, please share this with your advisor.
  • Be an active participantin the advisement process by coming prepared to each appointment with questions or material for discussion, including plans and ideas.
  • Be familiarwith degree requirements, university policies and procedures, and campus resources.
  • Actively manage your progresstoward degree completion by reviewing DARS and the online catalog in the MyOHIO Student Center.
  • Regularly read your OHIO e-mail, and do not forward it to a third-party email client (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
  • Take primary and increasing responsibility for  making your own decisionsbased on available professional advice and information.
  • Accept responsibilityfor your decisions and actions that affect your educational programs and goals. Please understand that the ultimate responsibility of obtaining your degree rests with the student, not the advisor.

Advisor

  • Understand and effectively communicateinstitutional policies, degrees, and college requirements, including the General Education requirements.
  • Work collaborativelyto assist you in dreaming, defining, and developing your academic, career, and life goals.
  • Create a safe environmentof mutual respect where you can share your thoughts, aspirations, concerns, and interests.
  • Provide academic success strategies and referralsto appropriate campus resources when needed.
  • Listen and provide feedbackcarefully to your questions, concerns, and confusions, and seek assistance in answering questions when not sure of the correct answer.
  • Encourage and supportyou as you gain the skills and knowledge necessary for success.
  • Assistyou in making course and program decisions.
  • Understand how to read a degree audit (DARS) and assist you as you learn how to navigate this advising resource.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of confidentialityas required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Be preparedfor academic advising appointments by reviewing student academic records and appropriate notes from the student file.
  • Reply to all emailswithin 24-48 business hours.
