Many engineers recognize that they have an opportunity to use their work to improve the world. At the Russ College, we know that it’s not just an opportunity, it’s a responsibility. And it’s one that we take seriously. In addition to continuing our established excellence in aviation navigation through the Avionics Engineering Center, we focus on three strategic research areas that have a tangible impact on society and address urgent issues in our world:
- Transportation infrastructure, which can foster achievements like safer planes and more energy-efficient pavement.
- Energy and the environment, which can lead to innovations like clean water conversion systems and address issues like pipeline corrosion.
- Biomedical engineering, which can improve lives through improved diagnostics, devices, and treatments for conditions like cancer or diabetes.
