Maintenance & Operations

The Maintenance and Operations department is broken down into shops defined by function. These shop areas are listed below. Work requests for these areas can be initiated by contacting the Work Center at 740-593-2911, fmservicedesk@ohio.edu or online .

Building Trades

The Building Trades Department is comprised of Carpentry, Carpet and Tile, Paint, Environmental Services, Sheet Metal and Zone Shops. Responsibilities include in-house renovations, maintenance of all interior and exterior surfaces, as well as structural and masonry repair. Emergency services after normal business hours, weekends and holidays are provided for all building systems for the entire campus.

Utilities Maintenance

The Utilities Maintenance Department is comprised of Control Shop, Electric Shop, HVAC Shop, Low Voltage Maintenance, Plumbing Shop, PM Shop, Relief Maintenance and the Tunnel Shop.

Utilities maintenance consists of providing and maintaining the distribution of utilities for heating and cooling campus buildings, as well as keeping the lights on. These utilities include steam, chilled water, electricity, and domestic hot water which are delivered to campus through various tunnel sections, direct buried piping, and electrical duct banks located throughout.

Emergency services after normal business hours, weekends and holidays are provided for all building systems for the entire campus.
