About AHEC Scholars
Do you want to collaborate with fellow students to learn about rural health care delivery? AHEC Scholars practice interprofessional collaboration and better position themselves to join a diverse and culturally-competent primary care workforce demonstrating team-based care as an element of practice transformation and achieving more effective patient outcomes.
This two-year program requires a total of 80 hours of classroom-based didactic experience and 80 hours of team-based clinical training and community experiences. Applicants must be entering the final two years of their degree program. AHEC Scholars cohorts begin each fall on the Athens campus.
AHEC Scholars receive the following benefits:
- $1000 stipend
- Participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities
- Clinical and community shadowing experiences
- Rural and Appalachian cultural experiences
