One thing that hasn’t slowed down is the pace of change that comes with COVID-19: just as we get used to public health guidance, it changes again.
As we welcome the first group of future Bobcats for Bobcat Student Orientation to our Athens Campus this week, we are increasingly excited as we move toward a robust fall semester.

As announced this afternoon by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, the state of Ohio will begin delivery of vaccines to public university campuses, including OHIO, in the coming days.
For three consecutive weeks, Ohio’s average COVID-19 case rate was dropping. But last week it ticked back up, and last Thursday Gov. DeWine announced that Ohio’s daily reported cases stopped dropping.

This week Ohio University is recognizing one year of the COVID-19 pandemic by highlighting how our University community has met the challenge.
Today is the anniversary of the first recorded case of COVID-19 in Ohio. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the day OHIO announced a shift to virtual classes for the remainder of the semester.
I’m encouraged to say that case rates are trending downward in all counties with OHIO campuses over the past 21 days.
I am happy to report that COVID-19 case numbers continue to decrease across the country and state. Most counties with an OHIO campus are similarly on the downtrend.
