Ping Recreation Center, a 36-foot, double-sided climbing wall offers the perfect challenge for students, staff and community members looking to develop or improve their climbing skills or try climbing for the very first time! Free shoe and harness rentals are available.

Skills Clinics
Excited about climbing and want to learn another skill? Come join us at one of our free climbing clinics!
You can register for clinics on RecShop or in-person at the Member Services desk in Ping Center.
Belay Clinics -Whether you're new to climbing, or are looking for a way to get more involved in the sport, these clinics are a perfect place to start learning more. No experience is necessary to join these clinics, where Outdoor Pursuits staff will teach you the basic skills needed to safely belay with common belay devices. Having a belay certification will allow you to belay other climbers at our wall and give you a solid foundation that can help you as a climber!
Intro to Lead Climbing Clinics -If you've been climbing for a while, feel comfortable belaying other climbers, and are ready to learn another climbing skill, then join us for one of our free Intro to Lead Climbing Clinics! In these clinics, you'll learn the foundations of lead climbing and lead belaying. Having a Lead Climbing certification will allow you to lead climb and to lead belay during our Lead Climbing nights.
Womxn's Climb Night
Every Tuesday night from 5-10 PM. This is a time reserved for womxn, non- binary, and non-male patrons. No Womxn's Climb Nights will be held over the summer period, but will resume in the Fall!
Lead Climb Night
Every Thursday from 5-10 PM. This is a time where lead climbers receive priority access to all routes. Check RecShop for Intro to Lead Climbing Clinics! No Lead Climb Nights will be held over the summer period, but will resume in the Fall!
Climbing Wall Reservations
The Climbing Wall is available for group rental to Ohio University students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community. Rental rates include climbing harnesses and shoes. Reservation requests for the climbing wall and challenge program must be received at least two weeks in advance.
Rental Hours
While rental hours are subject to change over holidays and non-academic sessions, the Climbing Wall is generally available to rent at the following times:
