The Appalachia Ohio Zero Waste Initiative —a collaboration coordinated by Rural Action in partnership with the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and funded by the Sugar Bush Foundation—conducted qualitative case studies of recycling and waste reduction management practices. The studies were conducted to better inform and prepare the Athens-Hocking Solid Waste District for solid waste management plan renewal. The eleven case studies provide a broad overview of components of select programs.
