Ohio University's Science Café presents Lynn Harter exploring "The Poetics and Politics of Storytelling" on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m. at the Baker Center Theater and via YouTube.
Storytelling is central to how people thrive amid perceived difficulties and profound vulnerabilities. Harter’s research and creative activity explore how storytelling functions in therapeutic contexts and the conditions under which storytelling enhances individual and communal well-being.
“I strive to work alongside community members to witness, create and share stories in creative forms to educate and effect change," Harter said.
Harter is a professor in the School of Communication Studies and co-director of the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact . Join Harter to learn how the institute fosters collaborative storytelling and advances narrative scholarship to catalyze collective action.
Free coffee is available for the first 50 in-person attendees.
