About this Event
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is taught to professionals to aid them in identifying hidden strengths in their clients and increase positive rapport building. This MI training will demonstrate the client-centered counseling styles for eliciting behavior changes by helping the clients to explore and resolve ambivalence. MI is evidenced based and is appropriate for any healthcare/correctional/ mental health professional. After training, participants will recognize the components of the spirit of MI and utilize MI skills, such as open questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries. Participants will gain an understanding of change talk and the role it plays in changing behaviors.
