Biological & Biomedical Seminar | Shawn Kuchta, Nov. 6

The Biological Sciences & Biomedical Sciences Joint Research Seminar Series features Shawn Kuchta  discussing “Phylogeography & Polymorphism in Salamanders: The History, Formation, & Delimitation of Species” on Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. in Irvine 159 and via Teams.

The host is Donald Miles.

Abstract: Research in the Kuchta lab is broadly focused on the evolution, ecology and conservation of biodiversity. Research topics include species formation and delimitation, biogeography, adaptation, natural selection, and the evolutionary ecology of polymorphism. Our approach is grounded in organismal biology and natural history, with a focus on amphibians (especially salamanders) and reptiles, while our methods of inquiry include, and typically integrate, phylogeography with phylogenetics, coloration studies, morphometrics, behavior, and field ecology.
