The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Colloquium guest speaker for Oct. 7th will be Professor Doublas Genna:  A Mechanistic Approach to Metal-organic Frameworks. Dr. Genna is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Sciences at Youngstown State University.

As metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) continue to gain prominence in diverse applications such as catalysis, drug delivery, and molecular separations, the mechanistic details behind the formation of these materials remain largely unknown. In this talk we will explore the development of a toolbox that utilizes synthesis, computation, and in situ Raman spectroscopy to study the solution-phase mechanism of formation of MOFs. Case studies involving group 13 derived MOFs containing In, Ga, and Al building units will be presented.
