Blood at the Root

By Dominique MorisseauDirected by Tiffany Nichole Greene

A striking ensemble drama based on the Jena Six, six Black students who were initially charged with attempted murder for a school fight after being provoked with nooses hanging from a tree on campus. This bold play examines the miscarriage of justice, racial double standards, and the crises in relations between men and women of all classes and, as a result, the shattering state of Black family life.

The Thursday, February 25 show is a preview performance.

The students worked hard and gave us some good work. But the topic came off a bit "after school special-ish".I found it hard to watch because of technical issues. Overdriven and distorted sound, and vastly miss matched lighting that should have been caught in pre-production.

Profoundly impactful writing, acting, and design.
