Basic Needs Programs

The Basic Needs Program is a way for students, staff and faculty to support Ohio University students who are experiencing emergencies that may impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college.

  • Food Assistance

There are various opportunities for food assistance available through both OHIO and the surrounding community, including SNAP benefits, food pantries, the Meal Bank and Cat's Cupboard.

  • Housing Help

Support and guidance for students experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.

  • Student Emergency Fund

Small-scale funds for students facing financial difficulty due to emergency situations or one-time hardships.

  • Bill Assistance

The Salvation Army provides limited financial assistance to low-income households struggling to meet a basic need.

  • Mental Health Care Grant

The purpose of this fund is to make mental health care services more accessible to our students by alleviating or reducing financial barriers.

  • Cap & Gown Loans

A loaner program for students facing a financial barrier to purchasing a cap and gown for commencement.

  • Regional Campus Resources

We support students on the regional campuses who are experiencing emergencies that may impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college.
