OHIO Summer Arts Theater Intensive 2025

Act. Write. Collaborate.

For Emerging Actors and Musical Theater artists

Ohio University’s Summer Theater Intensive is built from the centering foundations of joy, discovering and amplifying your creative voice, and acting from an authentic use of self. Participants sharpen their performance and audition skills through monologues, scenes, and creative collaboration. The training integrates acting, movement, voice, and devised theater where students create their own work. In addition to daily classes, students may participate in evening rehearsals each week.

The OHIO Summer Theater Intensive offers the following two streams:

Acting in Theater: June 16-20, 2025

This Acting Intensive is built from the centering foundations of joy, discovering and amplifying your creative voice, and acting from an authentic use of self. Participants sharpen their performance and audition skills through monologues, scenes, and creative collaboration. The training integrates acting, movement, and devised theater where students create their own work. The immersive training culminates in a final showing of student work on Friday, June 20.

Musical Theater: June 16-27, 2025

In this two-week course, students will sing, dance, and act, learning how to incorporate all three towards a believable and full musical theater performance. Along with this training, students will take an auditioning for college workshop. The course culminates in a curated performance of solos and group numbers on Friday, June 27.

Daily Schedule

In addition to studio and workshops during the day, academy participants have choice of evening activities including concerts, student performances, and a variety of recreational activities. Students who are commuting to the program are also welcomed to join in the schedule of evening activities and may visit local restaurants and the dining hall with the group if desired on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Please note: For security purposes, only students registered to stay in residence halls may enter residential buildings. Some recreational activities such as movie nights or craft nights may take place inside the residence halls and would be limited to those students in residence.
