The OHIO Lancaster Career Closet is a resource on campus that provides professional attire to all Ohio University students and alumni seeking employment. This is especially helpful for students or alumni who are transitioning into the workforce or trying to upgrade their wardrobes for job interviews or professional events. The Career Closet provides access to a range of clothing items, including suits, dresses, shoes, and accessories, allowing every Ohio University student and alumni to present themselves in a professional and confident manner.
The goal of the OHIO Lancaster Career Closet is to remove financial barriers that may prevent students with a need from looking and feeling their best during the internship and job search process. We feel it is important to put your best foot forward as you embark on a job search and are working towards your career goals.
Sizes and Availability
We aim to provide a variety of sizes and styles, but due to limited resources, we cannot guarantee the availability of all sizes and styles.
Accessibility
The Career Closet is open to all currently enrolled Ohio University students or alumni. The items are FREE of charge and do not need to be returned.
Donations
We are always accepting clothing donations!
When donating, please consider the following:
- All clothing must be clean and free of stains, tears, rips, or obvious malfunctions
- The clothing should be of excellent quality and was purchased in the last five years/or is in line with current fashion trends
- Clothing must be professional and interview appropriate
If you would like to donate, please contact thomas@ohio.edu . The Career Closet will then work with you to collect the clothing or schedule a convenient drop off time.
In addition, OHIO Lancaster student clubs and organizations will be conducting periodic clothing drives to increase inventory for the Career Closet.
All donations are tax deductible.
Current Need
The process of restocking the OHIO Lancaster Career Closet for the 2023-2024 academic year is now underway. Please consider donating the following items to help OHIO students and alumni enter the workforce with poise and confidence, knowing that they are making a positive and professional first impression.
New or gently used women’s business attire
- Suits and separates (jackets, blazers, pants, skirts, and dresses)
- Collared shirts and blouses in solid colors or with small patterns
- Black or brown simple belts
- Black, brown, or nude closed toes shoes (flat or less than three-inch heels)
- New dress socks
- New sheer or opaque hosiery (tights, pantyhose, nylons) in black or nude
- Fashion scarves
- Handbags in neutral colors
- Generally, items that are no more than five (5) years old and are in good condition
New or gently used men’s business attire
- Suits and separates (jackets, blazers, and pants) in neutral colors (black, navy, gray, khaki)
- Collared shirts in light and non-bold colors, solid or small patterns
- Solid color ties or ties with small patterns
- Black or brown simple belts
