The Scholars Program is an integral and innovative component of Cleveland Clinic’s medical education efforts. It reflects a collaboration between Cleveland Clinic and Heritage College, Cleveland, aimed at providing favorable opportunities and enriched learning experiences for medical students who have experienced socioeconomic, educational or other disadvantages.
Mentorships with Cleveland Clinic physicians are the backbone of the program. With ongoing support from their mentor physicians, scholars will learn to apply their medical knowledge both inside and outside the hospital.
The mentor/scholar relationship will evolve to fit the student’s maturation in the program, from planned gatherings and one-on-one engagements to clinical rotations within Cleveland Clinic’s health system. Scholars also will be able to give back through volunteer and community engagement opportunities.
Scholars Program participants will have the opportunity to cultivate valuable, lifelong relationships with Cleveland Clinic physicians in a clinical setting. These relationships will prove beneficial as scholars develop their career goals throughout medical school and begin to apply for residency programs.
Scholars are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity to explore residency options available within Cleveland Clinic and engage with Cleveland Clinic physicians. Scholars with active participation in the program will be eligible to receive an annual stipend.
