Student Emergency Fund
This fund provides emergency microgrants to students experiencing a one-time financial emergency that has the potential to interrupt their academic journey. This could include a medical emergency, loss of a family member or an unexpected expense that they cannot afford. Your gift helps award funding, typically between $500-1,000, to a student in need, ensuring that they stay on track in their educational endeavors.
- $75 could help replace a flat tire for a commuter student.
- $200 provides gas money for a commuter student.
- $550 covers rent for one month while a student recovers from an illness.
- $1,000 provides coverage for an emergency medical expense not covered by insurance.
Division of Student Affairs Food Pantry Support Fund
This fund provides support for Cats' Cupboard, the food pantry located on the 5th floor of Baker University Center. Gifts to the Division of Student Affairs Food Pantry Support Fund help provide over 600 students and their families with food twice per month. Your gift ensures that the food pantry stays fully stocked. In fact, last year, the pantry served more than 18,000 pounds of food to students in need.
- $1,000 stocks the pantry for one week with staples such as eggs, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, milk and lunch meat.
- $1,000 provides 40 students with three month's worth of hygiene items, including toilet paper, tampons, toothpaste, body wash, and deodorant.
- $300 provides one month of fresh whole milk available for pantry members.
- $250 stocks the food pantry's shelves with 100 cans of protein, such as canned tuna or chicken.
OHIO Parents & Family Endowment
The Parents & Family Endowment, created by a Bobcat mom, provides important funding to support student needs and parent & family engagement at Ohio University. Historically these funds have been used to provide support to students and families for unexpected hardship like travel arrangements for families making a trip to Athens due to a student/family emergency, transportation for students traveling to a funeral, and to support other mission critical needs of the Office of the Dean of Students.
Campus Life Fund
This fund helps support campus programming, community service and leadership development. It is a broad-based fund that assists with activities, programs and services that enhance the quality of campus life and are available to all students.
Student Affairs Employment Award
This fund awards scholarships to student employees within the Division of Student Affairs, which includes students who work in Housing, Culinary, Campus Recreation, Event Services, etc. Gifts to this account support a student who is working while attending college, and allows the division to recognize hard work, leadership and dedication.
Student Affairs Support Fund
The Student Affairs Support Fund is a generalized fund that supports operational needs of the division. For example, this fund could be used to support student leadership development via an on-campus workshop. These funds are spent at the discretion of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
