Ohio University's Lancaster Campus (OU-L) and Pickerington Center serve as a critical gateway to education and opportunity for our students and regional community. With increasing enrollment, evolving facilities, vested faculty, and strong leadership, the Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center are committed to community collaboration, student success and economic growth. We have experienced tremendous progress since our founding in 1956, and we continue to provide a premiere university education within a small-college setting at an affordable price.
As a leader in the region, we are prepared to redouble our efforts. With the economy at a turning point, now is the time to expand our initiatives and drive the economic recovery of our area. We can accomplish this by retraining workers for new jobs, partnering with corporations and businesses to spur growth, and adding value to our community through the cultural, athletic and natural resources our campus offers.
Your Support
Accomplishing these ambitious goals will not be easy and will require collaborative efforts. Community and business partners who have long played a key role in the success of our campus have put us on strong footing. Working together, we have transformed the Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center into resources Ohio can be proud of. Let's put this power to work again to lead our community into a brighter future. The Ohio University Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center are prepared to accept this challenge. Are you?
With your support, we seek to expand student access and opportunity, and enhance the academic experience through increased student-support services. We believe that you should support what matters most to you, so you can designate your gift to any area you desire. We have a couple of exciting current initiatives that will benefit from your generosity:
- Increasing scholarship aid, particularly for first-generation college students. Approximately 66 percent of our students demonstrate significant financial need, but current scholarship funds meet only a fraction of that need. Our campus has just one privately funded, full-tuition scholarship available. You can help change that.
- Expanding our student-support services to give students the assistance they need to realize their potential. With increased funding, we can expand online tutoring to include more subjects and increase services to students with special needs, such as large monitors for the visually impaired and note-taking equipment for the hearing impaired.
- Realigning Herrold Hall to stimulate job growth and economic development. With your support, we will update our research laboratories, classrooms, and industrial technology center, and improve accessibility for all students.
- Enhancing our focus on cultural enrichment to better serve our students and the community. To meet the needs of today's performing artists, the Wagner Theatre needs significant improvements. The stage, sound, lighting systems, and theatre were designed in the 1960s and do not meet industry standards. With improved facilities, the theatre will be equipped to host more visiting artists and performers and serve as a venue for lectures by nationally known speakers.
We are at a critical time at the Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center. Staying true to our legacy, the real impact of the Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center will be measured not in growth and statistics, but in the ability to make a meaningful impact on the quality of life for the residents of Central Ohio.
Your gift - no matter the amount - makes a huge difference in our region.
