Dr. Melinda Maher Rutherford holds a B.A. in Psychology from Marshall University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Life-Span Development Psychology from West Virginia University. Dr. Rutherford currently teaches EDTE 2000: Learning, Human Growth and Development, EDTE 2020: Field Experience in Education, EDTE 1000: Intro to Teaching, and EDEC 1600: Intro to Child Development.  She serves as the Program Coordinator for the sophomore education block and the Rural Urban Collaborative.  Her research interests include educational psychology, Generation Z learners, temperament and personality, and helping children with anxiety and emotion regulationPrior to her employment at Ohio University, Dr. Rutherford worked as the Director of Assessment and Instructional Research at Bluefield State College in Bluefield, WV and as the Dean of Instruction at Mid-South Community College in West Memphis, AR.
