Nilufer Yavuz is a third-year Aviation Flight major at the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. Nilufer is also double minoring in Aviation Management and Business Administration. Her hometown is Ankara/Turkey; however, she is an out-of-state student from Fairfax, Virginia.
Nilufer always had a love for flying and airplanes. She had been on many commercial flights as a child that allowed her to experience flying, learn more about planes, explore airports, and travel to many states and countries. On her junior year of high school, she decided she wanted to turn this love and passion into a career and applied to flight schools. After finding out about the Ohio University Aviation Department, scholarship opportunities and getting accepted to the OHIO Honors Program, Nilufer decided Ohio University was the perfect fit for her new home for the next four years.
Nilufer is a very involved both in and out the Russ College by being a first-year Aviation Ambassador, the treasurer of Women in Aviation, Vice President of Cutler Council, and a Senior Resident Advisor for Housing and Residence Life. She is also an Airport Operations Intern at Ohio University Airport (KUNI). Nilufer has a passion for sharing her experiences and knowledge of aviation with other aviation enthusiasts.
In her free time, Nilufer enjoys playing ping-pong, ice skating, learning new languages, rock climbing, playing the kalimba, going on night drives, and spending time with her friends. Nilufer’s favorite areas on campus are Court Street and College Green.
