At the Russ College, our engineering technology and management program will help you develop the technical expertise and business experience to effectively manage complex technological and business challenges. Your work in materials, processes, robotics and automation, and control systems can improve efficiency, productivity, quality, cost, and safety in a range of industries. Whether you want to improve manufacturing processes or lead organizational change, your coursework and hands-on experiential learning at the Russ College will build your technical competence and leadership skills.
Our engineering technology and management program offers a technical foundation, combined with business study, that will prepare you to succeed as a technical organization leader when you graduate and enter the workforce during the fourth industrial revolution, better known as Industry 4.0. Hands-on application of the theoretical principles helps our graduates go on to fill critical roles that keep businesses and manufacturing moving, so society can keep moving forward.
Curriculum
Our engineering technology and management curriculum is a combination of general education per university requirements, business courses amounting to a minor in business, a technical core, and electives.
The technical core, comprising 64.5 credit hours, includes coursework in

Most courses in the technical core require extensive hands-on laboratory time in addition to the classroom lecture/theory time.
In addition to the core technical classes, a technical elective is required and can be chosen from courses such as technical documentation, PLC, ISO, computer numerical control, and advanced plastics processes, as well as select courses offered by other departments in the college.
The coursework is also enriched by the focus on the development of business and managerial skills. These required business courses result in a built-in minor in Business Administration for all Engineering Technology and Management students.
The department also offers two certificate programs. Our Project Management Certificate Program’s activity-based work will enable you to practice successful project management skills – and you’ll also gain a valuable resume credential. Through our Lean Six Sigma Certificate Program , you'll work individually and on teams to learn how to remove waste, streamline processes, and add value.

Impact
Regions across the United States are dependent upon manufacturing. In Ohio, almost 17% of the state's Gross Domestic Product is the result of manufacturing. In 2021, manufacturing accounted for about 700,000 jobs in Ohio, producing the highest total annual wages of any sector in the state. Our graduates fill critical roles in Ohio and beyond that create safer, more efficient environments in the landscape of manufacturing.
