**Attendance on both days, as well as completion of the pre-record materials is expected and required for CME credits

Course Format

Blended, pre-recorded lectures with quizzes and in-person labs. Pre-recorded lectures and accompanying assessments should be completed by Wednesday, September 18. Materials covered in the pre-recorded lectures will not be covered in the in-person lab sessions. All pre-study materials will be available on CloudCME until October 31, 2024.

NOTE: For group registration, please follow the below steps:

  1. Visit, https://events.blackthorn.io/E0cr1V6/4a6KR3WIoD
  2. Choose “Group Ticket” under Registration Type (click Get Ticket)
  3. This takes you to a second screen to “Choose Additional Registration Type”  where you can confirm the ticket type and quantity of ticket type. Click “Continue” for the next step
  4. Provide “Company” name and choose “Group Registration” under attendee custom questions. Please ask the administrator filling out the information for your residents/physicians to follow the instructions on the page. They will need to download the Excel document and then upload the completed form (as an image file or PDF) with information from those attending
  5. Once the document is uploaded, click “Continue”. No payment information is required since for group registration, we will be sending the invoice to the organization
  6. As a final step, click “Place Your Order” and then "Sign Out" to record your submission

OMA Fall 2023 course participants, instructors, and support staff

This course is designed for D.O. and M.D. residents and their D.O. and M.D. faculty/preceptors in Osteopathic Recognized programs Participants will gain knowledge to better integrate OMM/OPP into their training and improve skills in precepting and evaluating learners in applying those skills. This is an excellent faculty development opportunity that will allow participants to share their learning experiences with each other.  Participants will watch pre-recorded lectures and take post-tests prior to attending the live OMM lab sessions at the Dublin campus.

Course Outcomes

In this course, participants will learn: 

  • Osteopathic philosophy and history
  • Osteopathic medical practice
  • Fundamentals of structural diagnosis
  • Fundamentals of osteopathic manipulative treatment
  • Treating common problems osteopathically
    • Through a variety of presentations and demonstrations by Heritage College OMM faculty and guest presenters, participants will learn, practice and strengthen their OMM skills and improve their understanding of osteopathic principles and practices.
    • The course will teach participants to increase the utilization of OMM/OPP in resident clinics.
    • Participants will improve their skills of precepting students in OMM/OPP.
    • Participants who complete the program will be better able to integrate OMM into their training along with precepting and evaluating students in applying those skills.
    • Those experienced in OMM will have the opportunity to refine their skills and increase utilization, with the added benefit of group discussion regarding difficulties in practice or precepting.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn and improve their understanding of osteopathic principles and practices (OPP).  
  • Participants will practice and strengthen their Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) skills.  
  • Participants will learn how to increase the utilization of OMM/OPP in resident clinics.    
  • Participants will improve their skills of precepting students/residents in OMM/OPP.  
  • Participants will learn how to integrate OMM into their training along with precepting and evaluating students/residents in applying those skills.    
  • Participants will refine their existing OMM skills and increase utilization along with the benefit of group discussion re: difficulties in practice or precepting.

Continuing Education Hours

Completion of 16.5 total hours of pre-study materials (7.75 credits) and attendance on both days of course (8.75 credits) is required. DOs and MDs are eligible to receive CME credit through OhioHealth from AOA and AMA.
