To minimize the impact of scheduled system maintenance, we have established specific windows when such work can take place. We also will avoid performing disruptive work during high demand times of the academic year.
Weekly maintenance windows
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm until midnight
- Low probability of a service outage, pre-authorized changes
Wednesdays from 2:00 am until 7:00 am
- Moderate to high probability of a service outage, but impact is limited
Sundays from 2:00 am until 7:00 am
- High probability of a service outage
- Affects a wide range of users
Service-specific maintenance windows
PeopleSoft SIS
PeopleSoft uses the standard maintenance windows for IT Services with one exception. Once a quarter, we will schedule a longer window from 12:01 am on a Saturday through 7:00 am that following Monday for major system updates. Advance notice will be provided for these quarterly updates.
Change Freezes
To minimize the chance of service interruptions during critical times of the year, we avoid making major production changes during the following windows:
Beginning of semester
- STARTS: 12:01 am on the day occurring one week prior to the start of classes
- ENDS: 11:59 pm on the day occurring one week after the start of classes
End of semester
- STARTS: 12:01 am on the first day of the last week of classes
- ENDS: 24 hours after the deadline for grade submission, as posted by the Office of the University Registrar
Winter Closure
- STARTS: 12:01 am at least two days prior to the start of the closure
- ENDS: 12:01 am on the first day after the closure ends
