Professional Experience
As president of Cohen & Company, Chris Bellamy is responsible for strategic direction, growth and development related to the firm’s efforts for closely held companies, private equity ventures, registered and alternative investment funds, multinational companies and real estate organizations. Over his 20-plus year career at Cohen, Chris has been instrumental to its growth in many ways — from helping to turn a small acquisition of an investment services company into what is now one of the most profitable areas of the firm; to leading the expansion of two offices to better serve a growing client base; to launching Cohen’s unique round robin interview process, which has become the foundation of the firm’s award-winning recruitment program. Chris also has served, and continues to serve, some of the firm’s largest registered fund audit clients, working with open- and closed-end mutual funds as well as ETFs offering a diverse mix of investment strategies.
A CPA in Ohio and Wisconsin, Chris received his BBA in accounting from Ohio University and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Outside of the accounting profession, he is the Director and former Investment Committee Chair of the Community Foundation of Lorain County. Chris is a past member of the Ohio University Finance Advisory Council and is a founding board member of the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club.
Living in Avon Lake, Ohio, with his wife and three children, Chris is an avid golfer and Cleveland sports fan. He has visited more than half of the Major League Baseball stadiums with his two sons with a goal of seeing them all before his youngest son turns 18.
