Biography

Mary Roberts joined Ohio University as an assistant professor of instruction in January of 2024. Mary is an alumna and native of southeastern Ohio with professional experiences spanning healthcare marketing, higher education marketing and television news.

Mary most recently spent two and a half years as marketing director for Great Plains Health, an independent healthcare system in North Platte, Neb., with more than 90 physicians and 30 specialties. She previously worked as a video producer in the department of communication and brand management at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, and as an anchor, producer and reporter for NBC Nebraska. With experience in courtroom and government reporting, Mary earned a certificate in Media Law from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2016.

Immediately following her undergraduate studies, Mary served as a volunteer English teacher and completed her Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification in Barranquilla, Colombia. She also teaches marketing and communication courses in the department of communication at Marietta College, her undergraduate alma mater.

In her free time, Mary enjoys volunteering as a marketing consultant for wellness-focused causes, and served on a committee from 2021 to 2024 that helped pass a local ballot issue to fund a $52.5-million recreation improvement project in North Platte, Neb. She also has served as a volunteer with the Alpha Xi Delta - Beta Xi chapter housing corporation and foundation in Marietta, Ohio, helping create marketing content for a fundraising campaign. Mary enjoys jogging, cooking and traveling.
