On Friday, Oct. 13, Ohio University will debut “Bridges: Building a Supportive Community,” an online education module that will be delivered via email to all OHIO faculty and staff (with the exception of AFSCME bargaining unit staff, who will receive it at a later date).
The online module is an important step in the University’s efforts to prevent campus sexual harassment and sexual violence and is intended to equip faculty and staff with the knowledge to help build a culture of respect that does not tolerate sexual misconduct.
OHIO President M. Duane Nellis has set a goal of 100 percent completion of the online “Bridges” module by all faculty and staff, encouraging OHIO employees to work together in the effort to prevent sexual misconduct.
“One of the first values that struck me when I first met Ohio University’s faculty, staff and students was the culture of care that permeates this great University,” President Nellis states in a letter available in the introduction portion of the online module. “This commitment to caring resonates in your passion, commitment, and advocacy for our students, our scholarship and our advancement of higher education. As we continue to support our students and one another, it is important that we all support an environment free from harassment and sexual violence.”
The emails delivering the “Bridges” online education module will show the sender as “Ohio University” with the subject “Ohio University Faculty/Staff Education Module: Bridges: Building a Supportive Community” and the email notice will also show the following: “el.lawroom.com/webimages/logo-lawroom-email.png.” When the e-mail is opened, the page will show “LawRoom\\Training” with information about the module and a “BEGIN TRAINING” link to click on to take you to the module. If you do not see the email arrive in your inbox on Friday, Oct. 13, check your clutter and junk mail folders, and if it is not there, contact Sara Trower, executive director and title IX coordinator, University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance (ECRC) via email: trower@ohio.edu . Faculty and staff are encouraged to complete the training module within the next 30 days.
More information about the faculty/staff online education module, including troubleshooting information, is forthcoming and will be available on the ECRC website at: https://www.ohio.edu/equity-civil-rights/Faculty-Staff-Online-Education.cfm .
