Our research projects at the Center for Scientific Computing and Immersive Technologies focus on the five fields of bioinformatics , medical image analysis , high-performance computing , learning technologies , and machine learning and data mining . Through these platforms, our work creates for good by improving quality of life for patients with chronic illness and injuries, builds technology infrastructure for accurate climate analysis, and helps improve learning outcomes.
Learn More About Our Work
Conferences + Workshops
Our distinguished research faculty attend and present at national and international conferences for computing and bioinformatics organizations, including the Great Lakes Bioinformatics Conference. Center Director, Lonnie Welch, founded the Ohio Collaborative Conference on Bioinformatics.
Our center also hosts colloquia on current and emerging topics in bioinformatics as the Bioinformatics Distinguished Lecture Series, and we contribute regularly to WordSeeker, a bioinformatics toolkit for regulatory genomics.
Student Research Opportunities
Through our affiliation with the Russ College of Engineering and Technology’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, we offer both undergraduate and graduate students the chance to get into the lab and experience engineering with real-world applications. For more information about current research opportunities, contact the center at 740.593.1568 .
