- Jen Steele- Founded Sociology-Criminology Club (SOC-CRIM) - An academic forum for students majoring in Sociology-Criminology, Sociology Pre-Law, Law Enforcement Technology, and Criminal Justice. The club provides opportunities to discuss and explore societal and crime-related issues while learning about relevant career paths. (January)

- Pamela Kaylor- 2024 Faculty Fellow, Inclusive Pedagogy Academy . Dr. Amy Chadwick, Dr. China Verhoff-Billotte, and Dr. Pamela Kaylor will be leading the Inclusive Pedagogy Academy for 2024-2025. This is her 2nd year leading the Center for Teaching, Learning & Assessment sponsored Academy. She has also conducted workshops for Scripps College of Communications prior to leading the CTLA academy. (August)
- Lisa Skeens- Presenter at the National Lilly Teaching Conference ( lillyconferences.com ) in Traverse City, Michigan. Her talk on "Instructional Strategies to Support First-Generation Students Who Experience Anxiety" emphasized inclusive teaching approaches that help ease classroom anxiety and empower first-gen students to achieve their academic goals (October)
- Jen Steele- Published research "Beyond urban centers: Investigating general strain theory and opioid use among rural adolescents" in the Journal of Criminal Justice (August)
- Jen Steele- In an effort to provide real-world insight into the complexities of the criminal justice system, Dr. Jen Steele, Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice, led her (SOC 2600) criminal justice class on an eye-opening visit to the Southeastern Correctional Facility , a low/medium-security men’s prison. Dr. Steele regularly incorporates this field visit into her curriculum every fall in SOC 2600, underscoring her commitment to bridging classroom learning with practical experiences. (November)
