Take a look at the upcoming events on the official OHIO Calendar of University Events. Anyone with an active OHIO ID can log in and complete the form to add events that are sponsored by any OHIO planning unit or registered student organization.

A fundraiser for Southeast Ohio Youth Mentoring (formerly Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Athens), the price of admission to these screenings is a suggested minimum donation of $2 per ticket. For no additional charge, all ticket holders will be entered into a raffle with a featured prize being handed out at each event, including Splash Passes which offer 10 admissions to the Athens City Pool donated by Athens Community Arts, Parks & Recreation, and a pair of admission passes to COSI in Columbus! Plus, Athens Public Libraries will be handing out free books at the screenings. Tickets may be purchased in the Athena Cinema lobby, summer hours are Sunday 2:30-8 p.m., Mon.-Wed. 4-8 p.m., Thur.-Fri. 4-10 p.m. and Saturday 2:30-10 p.m.
Active Shooter Training Monday, July 15, 1-2:30 p.m. Baker University Center 239, Athens OH 45701
Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter & Evacuate (ALiCE). This training is designed to encourage and promote discussion about active shooter situations and will help participants learn how to be more prepared should an active shooter incident occur. Test your readiness, learn about options and gain confidence in your abilities to react by attending one of the following sessions. Email wyatt@ohio.edu to register.
WebCMS Basic Editor/Publisher Training Tuesday, July 16, 10-11 a.m. WUSOC 175, Athens OH 45701
OHIO Information Technology is offering basic Web CMS training for new or existing users that have been migrated to Web CMS. Open to all OHIO faculty, staff, and students. It is a centrally managed web hosting that allows site owners and content contributors to edit and publish official, University-branded web pages without needing to know how to write website code. These training session will cover the basics of: Editing (Text Editor Interface); Content Types; Accessibility; Embedding Images; Uploading Documents; Navigation; Save Options and more. We try to leave time for questions & answers at the end. You must have permission from site owner and access to a Web CMS website is required - space is limited so sign up now.
Public Telescope Nights at Ohio University Observatory Wednesday, July 17, 9-11 p.m. The Observatory on The Ridges, Athens OH 45701
Telescope nights are hosted by the Ohio University Astronomy faculty and students. Visitors may see lunar craters, Saturn's rings, Jupiter, Mars, star clusters, or distant galaxies, depending on the time of year and sky conditions. Telescope nights are held at the Ohio University Observatory located at The Ridges on the Athens campus. Telescope nights are free and open to the public.
Parking is available in University lots 202, 200, and 201, which are open to visitors after 5 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. A permit is required 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The lots are open to the public all other times, unless reserved for a special event.
