Ohio University’s upcoming Spring Career and Internship Fair is a one-stop-shop
Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) will host the Spring Career and Internship Fair from 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
Each year, hundreds of Ohio University students meet and network with potential employers, with over 800 students attending the Fall Career and Internship Fair. This university-wide event is free for students and alumni of all majors and career interests to attend.
“The Spring Career and Internship Fair creates an opportunity for career exploration and making connections. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with about 100 companies all in the same place,” said Aaron Sturgill, the associate director for employer relations at the CLDC.
Students can expect organizations from many industries such as banking, technology, tourism, insurance, healthcare, sports and leisure, education and more. About 65 companies have already confirmed their attendance in the event, with a growing number of employers registering each day.
The CLDC staff is available to help students get the most out of the Career Fair. Sturgill recommends that students have their resumes reviewed during a 10-minute drop-in or a 30-minute career coaching appointment with the CLDC prior to the event. Bobcats can also request a mock interview, which could help them gain more confidence while interacting with potential employers.
Attendees should review the companies attending the event on Handshake as well as the company website. This way they can strategize which companies to visit and have a more meaningful interaction. Finally, students should also be prepared to give employers an elevator pitch.
Registration for the Spring Career and Internship Fair is not required but is highly recommended.
As participants will be meeting directly with potential employees, the CLDC suggests wearing a business casual outfit. If a student needs this type of clothing, they can visit the Career Closet in Baker 507.
