The following message was shared with the OHIO community on Feb. 11, 2022.
Dear OHIO community,
We are wrapping up this week with some exciting news for our OHIO community. Due to your efforts to prevent transmission of COVID-19 during the most intense part of the omicron surge, and with COVID-19 cases declining among our campus community for the fourth straight week, we are removing some of the prevention measures the University put in place due to the surge:
- Starting immediately, we can return to in-person events, gatherings and meetings.
- Food and drinks can again be served at University events. Seated, served meals or controlled buffets are safer than self-serve options.
- Students who live in residence halls can again host guests.
While this is good news, it is important to remember that because transmission remains high throughout the state and nation, we should continue to be careful. Of particular importance is consistent use of masks indoors and adherence to asymptomatic testing programs.
We will continue to evaluate campus safety and adjust our public health measures accordingly.
I hope this positive news is a good start to a safe and healthy weekend.
