Bobcat Parents & Families,
Welcome Week is a defining moment for our new and returning Bobcats. Starting tomorrow, the celebration is packed full of activities to help students acclimate to campus, connect with each other, and discover many resources available within the OHIO and Athens communities. You can stay in the know about Welcome Week as well as many other important updates by following us on Facebook.
Thousands of new and returning Bobcats will be moving to Athens over the next several days. With the influx of students this semester, we anticipate breaking our previous record for recycling. Please be a part of this effort by breaking down your boxes and reviewing OHIO's recycling resources for proper disposal.
See you soon,
Kathy A Fahl, MSW
Dean of Students
Recycling during move-in
Ohio University is committed to sustainability and has a goal of recycling 80% of all waste generated. Help OHIO reach this goal by doing your part during move-in.
“Move-in is when we see the largest influx of cardboard all year. Depending on the time of day, students will see literal mountains of recyclable material,” said Campus Recycling and Zero Waste Manager Andrew Ladd.
Mixed stream recycling drop-off is between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Campus Recycling’s Building 34 at The Ridges, located at 154 South Ridge Drive.
A record of 39,600 lbs was recycled in 2019. Get familiar with all of OHIO's recycling resources so we can break the record this year!
Consent Matters.
Have honest and healthy conversations with your partners about what each of you is comfortable with. Communication and respect are critical components of a positive sexual experience. If you sense a lack of either occurring in your friend circles or your own relationships, step in and speak out , or reach out to resources who can help you.
Every Bobcat deserves to have their boundaries honored.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
It means standing up for others – especially when you see or hear about injustice, danger, or mistreatment. On our campus, we call this Bystander Intervention. Stepping in when it's the right thing to do is what makes us a Bobcat - we look out for each other.
